7. The North-Eastern (Meghalaya) Plateau
A detached north-eastern extension of the peninsular block — the Meghalaya (Shillong) Plateau — was separated from the main plateau by the Malda gap (a faulted trough now buried under Ganga–Brahmaputra alluvium).
